According to Daily Mail, Chelsea have expressed interest in signing RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.
The 22-year-old signed a new Leipzig deal last year which contains a release clause of around £40million, a low fee for one of Europe’s emerging young defenders.
With doubts over the futures of Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Fikayo Tomori, the Blues are on the lookout for suitable replacements.
Premier League rivals Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool have also indicated interest in signing the RB Leipzig.
Spain’s big two Real Madrid and Barcelona are admirers along with Leipzig’s Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich.
Chelsea might be unable to sign Upamecano this month as RB Leipzig are determined to hold onto the defender this month, despite the opportunity to secure a higher price closer to his market value, leaving a summer move a more likely prospect for Chelsea.
