According to reports, the Blues are planning to spend big on a striker this summer despite only signing Timo Werner from RB Leipzig last summer.
The Athletic claim Chelsea are trying to jump ahead of our rivals by offering a mammoth fee this summer for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland – a year before his release clause comes into effect.
Chelsea are reportedly ‘going to do our utmost’ to lure Haaland to Stamford Bridge and are prepared to smash the club’s transfer record, with a fee in excess of £100m likely needed to prise him away from Dortmund.
Haaland has a release clause of around £66.6 million in his Borussia Dortmund striker but it comes into play in the summer of 2022.
The 20 year old striker is also wanted by Real Madrid, Manchester United and Manchester City.
Haaland has been in blistering goalscoring form ever since moving to Germany and has netted 12 goals in just 11 Bundesliga appearances this season, as well as registering two assists.
