Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater, currently on loan at Turkish club Istanbul Kasimpasa, has apologised after putting up a picture of himself celebrating just minutes after Frank Lampard’s dismissal as Chelsea boss.
The midfielder was heavily criticised by Chelsea fans after he uploaded a picture of him celebrating an old goal with former Leicester teammates – soon after news of Lampard’s sacking appeared.
The Englishman deleted the picture from his story and has now apologised after facing backlash from fans.
The message read: “Thought that was a bit reaction…Didn’t hear about the news before I posted that. I was just missing playing. The manager was somebody I looked up to hugely as a player.”
