Danny Drinkwater and N’Golo Kante formed a formidable partnership in midfield for Leicester City as the Foxes rode to a surprise title victory in 2016.

Kante moved to Chelsea during the summer after winning the league with Leicester City, while Drinkwater would move to Stamford Bridge the following year.

It didn’t really work out for Drinkwater at Chelsea, as his career has stalled since then and has so far made just 23 appearances for the Blues.

Drinkwater who recently sealed a loan move to Turkish side Kasimpasa has revealed that his goal was to play with Kante at Chelsea, but it never happened.

Drinkwater claimed in a Q&A session on Instagram that he and Kante played together just once, in our 5-0 win over Stoke City in 2017, where he grabbed his lone goal for Chelsea in that game.

However, the 30-year-old is incorrect in his statement as the pair played together from the start six times. Chelsea won three of those games, drawing two more and losing just once – the 2-1 reversal to Manchester United in 2018.
