Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has rejected Timo Werner comparisons with former Chelsea striker Fernando Torres.
Werner has been compared to Torres, who moved to Stamford Bridge in a sensational £50m January deadline day move from Liverpool 10 years ago this month.
After lighting up the Premier League at Anfield, he struggled for form and confidence in London, scoring just 45 times in 172 appearances between 2011 and 2014.
“All players will experience it in their career. All eyes are on and it becomes magnified. I need to work with him on it,” Lampard said on Monday ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Leicester.
“I’m not comparing him to anybody. Everybody is different, Torres had difficult times here but won the Champions League.
“All we need to do is create the best environment to get the best out of Timo. You must repeat, keep working and he needs to keep his head down and focus, I need to give him positivity.”
