It seems Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ensuring he has a plan B despite Frank Lampard’s job being safe for now.
According to a new report, Abramovich has held initial talks with both Thomas Tuchel and Massimiliano Allegri over the managerial position at Stamford Bridge.
While Lampard’s job is safe for now, the Chelsea owner is reportedly making plans for a replacement should results fail to improve.
Bild’s Christian Falk said on Twitter: “Yes. There was ‘non-binding’ contact to the Management of Tuchel and Allegri.”
Tuchel was dismissed by Paris Saint-Germain on Christmas Eve, just a few months after guiding the French side to the Champions League final while Allegri has been out of work since 2019 after leading Juventus to five successive Serie A titles.
