Former Barcelona defender Xavier Mbuyamba has finally begun training with his new teammates at Chelsea.

The highly rated 17-year old defender who joined the club during the summer, has had a slow start to his Chelsea career due to having an operation and being out injured.

Mbuyamba has posted his progress via his Instagram account, showing how his journey from injury to recovery has been.

“It starts now”, he captioned the video of his recovery.

Meanwhile, upon signing for Chelsea, Mbuyamba revealed his ambition as thus: “I’m a centre back, very comfortable with the ball, strong, also in the air, I like to play my duels.

“First of all I want to play a good season in the development squad, the team is already a very solid team, they won the league unbeaten.

“I just want to be one of the important players in there, some goals, but I just love clean sheets.

“If you look at where I came from, a small club in Holland, this is a big thing.”
