Manchester City have been getting the upper hand over Chelsea in recent years, with Pep Guardiola’s side having won four of the last six league matches between the two sides.

However, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard had the last laugh in this fixture the last time the two sides met, as Chelsea defeated City 2-1, in a very entertaining fixture at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea play host to Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on January 3, and Lampard has revealed just how he wants his side to play on the day.

Lampard wants his team to be quick and have a lot of speed in attack, but he also wants his team’s defending to be disciplined.

Lampard said in his press conference ahead of the Manchester City game: “It was slow against Arsenal, it needs to be quick against Manchester City. It also needs to be disciplined against them defensively.

“So I want to see a lot of discipline in how we defend and a lot of speed in our game when we attack.”
