Chelsea boss Frank Lampard decided to pair Thiago Silva with Antonio Rudiger for the game against Fulham, and the pair did a good job.
Silva’s regular partner is Kurt Zouma, but the Brazilian formed a good partnership with Rudiger in defence, and the pair did a good job of protecting their goalkeeper, as Fulham hardly had a sniff on the Chelsea goal.
Meanwhile, Jamie Redknapp has hailed their partnership and believes they could do a good job together
“When you’ve only had one clean sheet in seven, sometimes things have to change, whether it’s a system change, a personnel change,” Jamie Redknapp told Sky Sports, while commenting on Chelsea’s defence.
“I think Rudiger and Thiago Silva looked a real partnership. I know they played against 10 men for half the game, but they looked good, they looked solid, they looked sound.
“That’s something you can go off because I thought Rudiger was really good today.”
