Despite Fulham being reduced to 10 men late in the first half after Antonee Robinson was sent off for a challenge on Cesar Azpilicueta, Chelsea struggled to beat the hosts 1-0.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard blamed Chelsea’s failure to beat Fulham convincingly on Chelsea’s lack of confidence and Fulham being a tough team to beat.
Lampard told BBC: “Fulham have got good recent results. Tough to beat and dangerous in attack. The challenge against 10 men was different.
“You want to take advantage of the situation. A month ago we were flying high, then since then we’ve struggled. It’s a challenge even a man down. We got the goal though and could have got more.”
Asked if a lack of confidence is affecting Chelsea, Lampard added: “Maybe a bit. That’s normal in football. But every team are having phases of form. Within that you get individuals short of form. We’ve got talent at the top end and it’s my job to sort that out.
“Perfection is not an easy thing to get. I won’t say I was blown away with the performance. There were lots of bits I was happy with, but we won’t get too ahead of ourselves.”
