Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has hailed Blues midfielder Billy Gilmour, after his remarkable return from injury.
The 19-year-old came into the scene back in 2019 and put in some wonderful performances that earned him the man of the match against Liverpool and Everton, just before lockdown.
After the lockdown, Grealish suffered a long term injury that kept him out for four months.
However, the 19-year-old has since returned to action and looked good when introduced in the second half against Manchester City.
Frank Lampard will give him an opportunity against Morecambe in the FA Cup third round tie on Sunday, and the Chelsea boss has hailed Gilmour’s attitude that saw him bounce back from injury in good condition.
“I have been delighted with him,” Lampard told the club’s official website.
“His attitude in rehab was what I expected but was great to see.
“He did everything right and got himself fit and came straight back in against Krasnodar and was fantastic, and against Manchester City, a really difficult game to come into he showed personality and quality so I am really delighted to have him ready to go.
“Billy is going to be a huge player for this club, he is young and so, like the youth in the squad I talk about a lot, we need to give him time but at the same time his talent is huge so I am really pleased with where he is at.”
