Chelsea have been linked with several managers as Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich contemplate sacking Chelsea boss Frank Lampard following an inconsistent run of form.
One of the favourites for the role has become available, putting Lampard under huge pressure to turn things around quickly.
Former Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez has left Chinese club Dalian Professional.
The Spaniard, who won the Europa League with Chelsea in 2013, is sixth favourite to succeed Lampard according to bookmakers.
Benitez is at 9/1 and behind Thomas Tuchel, Andriy Shevchenko, Julian Nagelsmann, Mac Allegri and Ralf Rangnick.
Benitez joined the Chinese club in July 2019 on a £12million-per-year contract but has now decided to leave amid concerns over the health and well-being of his family amid the coronavirus pandemic.
He said in a statement: “Unfortunately, like so many things in the last year, COVID-19 has changed our lives and our projects. From today, both my coaching staff and I will sadly no longer be coaching Dalian.
“The pandemic is still here, for all of us, and supporting our families has been a priority when making this decision.”
