Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has suggested Chelsea duo Billy Gilmour and Callum Hudson-Odoi will be handed bigger roles in the team after they both starred in the FA Cup thrashing over Morecambe.
Hudson-Odoi scored and provided the assist for Mason Mount’s goal while Gilmour impressed in central midfield for the Blues.
Gilmour, 19, was making only his fifth appearance for Chelsea this season against Morecambe, while Hudson-Odoi has featured predominately from the bench.
“I think Billy is pushing [for a regular run in the first-team] and has been since he made his breakthrough last season against top-level opposition,” Lampard said after the 4-0 victory.
On Hudson-Odoi, Lampard added: “In terms of how long until he makes that case [for a consistent run in the team]? He’s making it now.”
