Chelsea progressed progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Morecambe, with goals from Havertz, Timo Werner, Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard sent a message to Havertz following his goal against Morecambe.

“I think the level is high. I think there are numerous levels that Kai can go up because of the potential of him as a player. He’s young and been here a short period, it’s unfortunate that he had Covid and suffered a bit coming back from that,” said Lampard.

“Today I saw him and throughout the week in training looking fitter, stronger and there are levels to go up for Kai. We have to remain patient because he’s come here and has a huge amount of talent.

“But you have to get accustomed to the league and the pace of the league. We as a club must support him because he’s an important player for now and the future. It was a small step in the big picture but a step made in a good way.”
