Mason Mount was named as the man of the match in Chelsea’s 1-0 victory against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday evening.
It had to take a 78th minute strike from the recently turned 22-year-old to give Chelsea the win.
Mount scored on his birthday against Morecambe, and he admitted that he should have bagged a brace against Fulham, with his first half strike thundering against the bar.
“I turned 22 [last Sunday] and now I have two goals so it has been a good week and hopefully that continues,” a smiling Mount said after the game.
“I should have had two against Fulham really, I should have scored in the first half but I am happy with one as well.
“Jorginho went off and the manager brought Tammy on and then Timo on so I dropped a bit deeper and I was in there with Kov [Mateo Kovacic] so I told him to sit a bit and that allowed me to go a bit more forward, and then I found myself in the box which recently in the last couple of weeks I haven’t been doing.
“I haven’t been getting in the box as much and that was something I looked at. I managed to get in there in this game and it fell to me.”
