Chelsea defeated Morecambe 4-0 in the third round of the FA Cup, to seal passage into the fourth round of the competition.

Morecambe boss Derek Adams has revealed his surprise at Chelsea’s team that faced his side.

Lampard had introduced a lot of youngsters to the team ahead of the game, and it was expected that he would use a weakened side.

However, the Chelsea manager named a very strong team with the likes of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi starting in attack.

Adams admitted after the game that Lampard surprised him with his lineup.

He said: “To be honest I wasn’t expecting Frank Lampard to name a side as strong as he did and he definitely showed us and the competition a lot of respect

“They were a side that had been under a bit of pressure lately and we knew it was going to be a tough afternoon especially as we had been self isolating for 10 days recently which wasn’t ideal.”
