Chelsea have the best home record in the Premier League, as the Blues went four years without tasting defeat at Stamford Bridge.

The record started under Jose Mourinho in 2004, as Stamford Bridge was a fortress for four years, and 86 games in the process.

Liverpool seemed to be closing in on the special Chelsea record, but fell short after 68 games, as they were beaten by Burnley 1-0, at Anfield on Friday night.

Mourinho has now revealed that the record will be such a difficult one to break, but hailed Liverpool for coming close.

“You know, the records are there to be broken. Even the most incredible ones, in so many sports,” Mourinho said on Friday.

“But there are some records that you look to them and you feel that it’s almost impossible for somebody to do it.

“And honestly what Liverpool did was amazing. What they did is very, very difficult to achieve.

“And of course our record from the Chelsea time is still the record and is very, very difficult for somebody to do better than that.

“But congratulations to Liverpool for the amazing run that they had by not losing a Premier League match at home for so long.”
