Chelsea were beaten 3-1 by Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening, to further pile up the pressure on Blues boss Frank Lampard.
Chelsea had been on a good run of 17 games without tasting defeat, but memories of that has since vanished, with Chelsea having now lost four of their last six games and getting only four points from a possible 18.
Chelsea’s recent performances have been drab, and the games against Manchester City and Arsenal were lost from the get go.
Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has now advised Lampard to change his tactics and insists that the current Chelsea style is too predictable.
“At the moment it does not look like there is a plan, Chelsea look like a group of top players who have been told to just go out and play,” Paul Merson told Sky Sports.
“Lampard went with the pace of Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech against Manchester City but after the game he probably thought he should have gone with Olivier Giroud. That’s down to inexperience and learning.
“They need to ditch the 4-3-3, get Kai Havertz behind a front two, get two up front, play that way and cause teams problems, because as it stands things are predictable with Chelsea.”
