Chelsea players reported for training on Monday afternoon just hours after Chelsea legend Frank Lampard was sacked by the club.
The players were told not to report to training on the morning following the announcement that Lampard would no longer be in charge.
First team coach Joe Edwards took charge of Chelsea training on Monday following Lampard’s sack and it appears he will be staying put under incoming gaffer Thomas Tuchel.
Meanwhile, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich admitted it was a difficult decision to sack Lampard.
Abramovich said: “This was a very difficult decision for the club, not least because I have an excellent personal relationship with Frank and I have the utmost respect for him.
“He is a man of great integrity and has the highest of work ethics. However, under current circumstances we believe it is best to change managers.”
