Chelsea bossed possession against Wolves all through the game, but the Blues couldn’t find a way to break through a stubborn Wolves defence. At the end, it was only a point in Thomas Tuchel first game in charge of the club.
See the player ratings below
Edouard Mendy: Easy game in goal as he was rarely troubled. 6/10
Azpilicueta: Returned to the starting lineup as a right centre-back, and he had a good game. Lined up with the attack anytime he found space. 7/10
Rudiger: Had a moment with Podence that went unpunished, otherwise he had a good game. 7/10
Thiago Silva: Very comfortable performance in defence as he never seemed troubled. 7/10
Hudson-Odoi: Surprisingly played as a right wing-back and he was the best player on the pitch for Chelsea, especially in the first half. Had a good understanding with Azpilicueta and seemed dangerous anytime he was with the ball. 8/10
Chilwell: He looked off tonight. Got into so many good positions, but his end product was poor. Missed a glaring chance in the hour mark and seemed off the pace with the rest of the attacking players. Rightly hooked off in the second half. 5/10
Jorginho: Disciplined performance as he sat in the middle of the park and made sure he was always available for the pass. 6/10
Kovacic: Energetic performance. Full of energy beside Jorginho as he tried to help his team. 7/10
Kai Havertz: Played off Giroud and looked lively at times. Tried to impress so hard but drifted in an out of the game. Created a good chance for Chilwell in the second half and was close to scoring late on. Improved performance but there’s still much to improve on. 6/10
Ziyech: Good movement and good passing at times against a difficult Wolves side. Linked up well with Hudson-Odoi, but the final ball was a problem for most of the game. 7/10
Giroud: Very frustrating night for Giroud. Seemed isolated at times upfront. Just didn’t work out for him. 6/10
Subs
Tammy Abraham: Brought energy upfront but didn’t see much of the ball. 5/10
Pulisic: Looked lively after coming on for Chilwell, but his end product was lacking. 6/10.
Mount: Was the last sub for Chelsea after coming on for Ziyech in the 80th minute. Played one good pass in behind for Pulisic and was very lively. 6/10
