Chelsea boss Frank Lampard hasn’t hidden his plan to hit Manchester City on the break in Sunday’s Premier League meeting at Stamford Bridge.
City are expected to hold more of the ball, but Lampard is content to soak up the pressure and hit his opponent on the counter.
Based on the game plan against Manchester City, this could be Frank Lampard’s preferred line-up:
Goalkeeper: Edouard Mendy
Defence: Cesar Azpilicueta, Kurt Zouma, Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell
Midfield three: N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Mason Mount
Front three: Christian Pulisic, Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.
Line-up explained: With Reece James out injured, the back five is settled.
In midfield, Lampard will go for the hardworking trio of Kante, Kovacic and Mount against a City side that are exceptionally good on the ball.
In attack, Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud may not be needed from the start, as the pace and trickery of Pulisic, Werner and Ziyech may just be enough for the Blues. If Ziyech may not be available to start, Callum Hudson-Odoi has proven in recent games that he deserves to play more.
