Frank Lampard must return Chelsea back to winning ways if he’s to secure his future at the club as Chelsea.

The former Chelsea midfielder did a good job last season of guiding Chelsea to a top four finish, despite the loss of star man Eden Hazard and a transfer ban. But this season seems to be going in a different direction.

Although respected as a legend at the club, Lampard must clearly find a way of succeeding as a manager.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich doesn’t have the record of being too patient, as we saw him ax former Blues hero Roberto Di Matteo in 2012, despite his Champions League heroics.

Different managers are now being linked with the Chelsea job, especially the likes of Thomas Tuchel, Max Allegri, Julian Nagelsmann, Ralf Rangnick and Ralph Hasenhuttl.

German bosses have been linked the most with the Chelsea job, and The Athletic claim Chelsea’s board are keen to pursue a German-speaking manager as a possible replacement for Lampard.

According to the report, the board believes that it will help the situation of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, who cost over £100m during the summer transfer window.
