Frank Lampard was today dismissed as Chelsea’s manager, following a bad run of form that has seen Chelsea drop from first in the league after beating Leeds United 3-1, to 9th in the league.
Not too long ago, Chelsea were on a cruise with a 17 game unbeaten run, but all that has since been forgotten as a bad run of form cost Lampard his job.
Away defeats to Everton, Wolves, Arsenal and Leicester City and a 3-1 home defeat to Manchester City was enough to see off Lampard, with Chelsea currently 9th in the division.
After spending over £200m in transfers, no progress seemed made, leading to Roman Abramovich wielding his famous axe.
According to Sky in Germany, former PSG boss Thomas Tuchel is in line to replace Lampard. The former Borussia Dortmund coach is available after leaving Paris Saint-Germain in December.
Tuchel will join Chelsea with a wealth of managerial experience, having won the DFB-Pokal in 2017 with Dortmund before a trophy-laden spell in Paris which saw him win two Ligue 1 titles and a French Cup, as well as reaching the final of last season’s Champions League, which they lost to Bayern Munich.
