Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp believes Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has a tough job on his hand, not only to win games but to get the balance of his squad right.

With the new players joining the club during the summer transfer window, Jamie Redknapp believes Lampard will be wondering how to get the most out of his team.

According to Redknapp, the young Chelsea players are even doing better than the new signings at the moment.

“There’s no doubt at all, it’s tough at times,” Redknapp said. “He must spend hours in his dressing room at Cobham, looking at how he’s gonna set the team out, the system he is gonna play, looking at how he can keep everyone happy.

“It’s the most difficult thing in the world when you’re a manager, you’re always gonna have players that aren’t playing, especially when you’re not winning.

“But the problem is, you don’t wanna stop the young players developing as well.

“I’m sure if you’re Mason Mount this summer, and he sees Ziyech coming in and the likes of Havertz, he thinks, ‘where am I gonna fit in?’, it’s difficult.

“It can take a knock on your confidence, but right now, it’s the younger players leading the way.

“I wanna see more from Pulisic, Werner hasn’t done it yet.

“His confidence is rock-bottom, he needs something to go in.”
