Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for Bayern Munich star David Alaba.
The Austria international is expected to join a new club on July 1 when his contract with Bayern Munich expires and is set to sign a pre-contract agreement with his next side starting from January.
Chelsea have been rumoured to be one of the most likely destinations for Alaba, but the Blues will definitely need to be on the edge if they must get the experienced Austrian.
According to Marca, Real Madrid have been able to turn around their financial issues, and are now close to finalising a deal for Alaba. The Los Blancos want to get this done as soon as possible to avoid competition for the player’s signature later on.
Real Madrid have reportedly offered Alaba a four-year contract worth a little over €10m (net) per season. The high wages may be attractive enough for Alaba, and for Madrid, it’s a fair price knowing that they won’t have to pay a transfer fee.
Top transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano has reported that five clubs have shown interest in Alaba, including Chelsea and Real Madrid.
