The stats haven’t been favouring Timo Werner in recent weeks, as the summer signing has now failed to score in his last 12 appearances for Chelsea.
According to stats provided by the Premier League, Werner is in the top four of big chances missed this season, sharing the fourth position with Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin who has also missed 8 big chances.
Former Blues youngster Patrick Bamford as well as Chris Wood top the list with 12 missed big chances, while Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa is third on the list with 10 missed big chances.
No other Chelsea player made the top 16 list that also includes highly rated forwards like Liverpool’s trio of Mohamed Salah (16th) , Sadio Mane (6th) and Roberto Firmino (6th).
Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford and Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy are also 6th in the list with 7 missed big chances.
Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne and Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette are joint 12th with 6 big chances missed.
For Werner to be the only Chelsea forward in this category that also has the highly rated forwards in the league, only means that he’s getting his movements right and getting into good scoring positions.
In the past few games, he hasn’t looked his best, probably due to the criticisms following his big money move from RB Leipzig and he barely even got into scoring positions. All he needs to do is to keep getting into those positions and the goals will definitely flow in.
