A section of Chelsea fans have turned on Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger for his role in the sack of Frank Lampard on Monday morning.
Prior to Lampard being given his marching orders reports had emerged of Rudiger being a prominent source of disruption within the Chelsea ranks, ‘causing issues’ and allegedly ‘clashing’ with club captain Cesar Azpilicueta.
Many expected the German defender to leave the club during the summer transfer window after falling to fifth choice with Lampard leaving him out of match-day squads entirely on a number of occasions.
Azpilicueta as captain ‘attempted to ease tensions’ between the players as Lampard was accused of favouring academy players.
Chelsea fans appear to have apportioned some of the blame for Lampard’s exit firmly in the direction of Rudiger, and took to social media to slam the German international.
On one of Rudiger’s post celebrating Chelsea’s victory at Fulham, Chelsea fans took to the comment section to slam the defender.
One Chelsea fan commented: “You don’t deserve to play for this club anymore,” and the comment was ‘liked’ hundreds of times over as a sign of solidarity from others sharing the same opinion.
Another Chelsea fan commented: “not good enough for Chelsea football club.”
“Get out please”, a fan commented while another commented “you are guilty”.
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time Chelsea fans are turning on their own players.
Chelsea fans called Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa ‘rats’ after allegations they were responsible for Jose Mourinho’s sack as Chelsea boss.
