By this time last month, Chelsea were dipping towards 10th place in the league, as the club’s form started to drop so bad under Frank Lampard. Interestingly, Liverpool and Manchester United were flying high in the league and were both tipped to be among the possible league leaders come the end of the season.
Things change in football, and things change so quickly in the Premier League. Chelsea axed Lampard and appointed Thomas Tuchel as the new club boss. Since then, Chelsea have gone on a run of four wins in five games, while the form of Liverpool and Manchester United have since stuttered.
Liverpool are now in 6th place and have lost their last three league games in a row, while Manchester United have only managed one win in their last 5 league games.
Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer, has now made a new top four prediction. He has backed Chelsea to finish in the top four with Leicester City as well, but he thinks either Liverpool or Manchester United will miss out.
Asked to predict the top-four this season, Shearer told Premier League Production: “City to win it. I think Chelsea, I do think Leicester – really impressed with them. Either Manchester United or Liverpool to miss out, if you push me, I think Liverpool could.
“I just think defensively, they look all over the place. They have put a youngster in, the new signing. It’s a big ask for him to come in and shore up that defence.”
