Games against Atletico Madrid are never easy, as Diego Simeone has built the Atletico team into a dogged side over the years.
Despite topping Champions League Group E, Chelsea were still drawn to face a top side in Atletico in the second round, and Thomas Tuchel must now guide his side past the La Liga leaders if they want to book a place in the quarterfinal of the Champions League.
Chelsea winger turned wing-back Callum Hudson-Odoi is set to have his first real taste of Champions League football, and he has admitted that he is looking forward to the encounter.
The 20-year-old is urging his side to go to the game with a winning mindset, but he also admits that it will be a difficult tie.
He told the official club website: “I’m really excited! It’s a massive game against Atletico, who we know are a big team and are doing really well this season. We want to go into that game with the mentality of trying to win and trying to get through to the next round.
“It will be a different game to what we were expecting, going to Romania instead of Spain, but it’s going to be big for us either way.
“We all know football is a crazy sport and it can go either way. You can be winning one minute and the next minute you’re losing, especially in the Champions League. Our aim is just to give it everything we’ve got and let’s see if we can make it through.”
