Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel revealed in his press conference ahead of the Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid, that veteran defender Thiago Silva will be absent from the second round tie in Bucharest, Romania.

The veteran Brazil defender limped out in the first half of action in the London derby against Tottenham, earlier this month, and hasn’t been available for play since then.

Tuchel has admitted that he’d miss the 36-year-old for this crucial tie.

“This is a game that is certainly made for someone of Thiago’s quality but unfortunately he is not available,” Tuchel said in his pre-match press conference.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone doesn’t think Chelsea will miss the Brazilian due to the quality in the squad.

Simeone answered with a blunt ‘no’ when asked if Thiago Silva’s absence makes Atletico’s job easier.
