A lot has been said about Bayern Munich defender David Alaba, who’s now set to leave Bayern at the end of the campaign, after more than a decade-long stay with the Bavaria.
The 28-year-old has since refused to sign a contract extension with Bayern and will leave at the end of the season as a free agent.
Chelsea have been linked with the two-time Champions League winner, with Liverpool and Manchester United also believed to be interested in the free signing. However, Real Madrid are believed to be the favourites for his signature at the moment, but the Austrian star has admitted that he’s yet to make a final decision.
Alaba has moved to confirm that he’d be leaving Bayern at the end of the season, and has admitted that his representatives are in talks with multiple clubs over his next move.
Asked about his future at a press conference on Tuesday, Alaba told reporters: “I have decided to do something new. It wasn’t an easy decision. I have not yet made the decision where to go.
“I have personally decided to see something new, to look for a new challenge. That certainly took its time.”
The 28-year-old added: “It’s no secret that my agent is negotiating with other teams.
“I am looking for a new challenge to develop myself as a person on and off the pitch.
“Where can I continue to play football successfully? That will certainly be important in my decision.”
The Austria International is believed to be demanding a whopping £20m a year contract from interested clubs, but he has insisted that his decision to quit Bayern was never motivated by a desire for more money.
“Money wasn’t a factor for me. A lot was interpreted from the outside,” he continued.
“I couldn’t say much from my side because we had a lot of games. It’s a difficult phase with communication.
“My management is in talks, I get information and don’t worry.”
