Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has admitted he would have been interested in becoming manager of Premier League side Newcastle United, if he had been approached.
The German tactician was linked with the Newcastle job before taking over at Borussia Dortmund in 2015 – but insists he was never approached.
“I was never in contact with anybody in Newcastle,” Tuchel said.
“If they had contacted me, there would have been a chance because I’m a football fan, I know the stadium, I know the guys who played for Newcastle.
“I know the shirt, but I never had any contact with any official of Newcastle.”
After leaving Borussia Dortmund, he went on to become Paris Saint-Germain boss before replacing Frank Lampard as Chelsea boss.
