Record signing for a goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga hasn’t featured yet under new boss Thomas Tuchel.
The Spain international is now set for his first appearance under the German gaffer, as Chelsea travel to Oakwell to face Barnsley on Thursday night.
Kepa has made just six appearances for Chelsea this season after falling behind Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy in the pecking order to be number one, but Tuchel has assured that he’d start against Barnsley.
Tuchel has now urged Kepa to impress him like he has done in training.
“Kepa will start the game,” confirmed Tuchel. “He will get the chance and I hope he can show what he shows in training.
“We did not change the goalkeeper from the first game because Edou [Mendy] has been very strong but this is an opportunity for Kepa. It’s very important for me that he does not want to over-achieve because I want him to do a normal match.
“He just has to show the quality that he has and give a solid performance to help the team.”
