Chelsea’s performance against Southampton was very drab at the St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Thomas Tuchel’s side had over 70 percent ball possession, but only managed to get a 1-1 draw, with Mason Mount scoring from the spot in the second-half to level the scores, after going down to a Takumi Minamino’s first half goal.

N’Golo Kante got his first league start under Thomas Tuchel, and put in a good shift, as he made a game-high 7 tackles and 4 interceptions to prove that he was back to his brilliant best.

Mount who also had a good game was full of praise for Kante.

“He definitely did a lot more than me today,” Mason Mount told Chelsea TV about N’Golo Kante’s performance.

“He doesn’t stop running, we know how N’Golo is like – winning every ball.

“It’s absolutely brilliant to have him back in [the team]. [He’s] Unbelievable to play with and a big character around the group.

“He doesn’t say much but what he does physically and how he goes about himself, he’s a massive character.”
