Chelsea defeated Tottenham by a lone goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday night.

Chelsea were very dominant in the first half, as the Blues went on to end the half 1-0 up. Spurs came out stronger in the second-half, but Chelsea’s defence ensured that another clean sheet was kept.

Chelsea’s goal came off a Jorginho penalty, which was won after Tottenham defender Eric Dier kicked out at Timo Werner in the penalty box.

Jose Mourinho slammed the decision after the game and was very displeased with Andre Marriner for issuing such a penalty.

The Spurs boss rushed up to meet Marriner after the full-time whistle to air his view.

When asked about what he said, Mourinho answered: “I consider him one of the best referees in the Premier League. I care for him and I have big admiration for.

“That gives me a good position to tell you I did not like his performance.

“The struggle was the penalty, in the end a penalty decides the game. In the end they score a penalty which is not a penalty that you say is a dangerous situation, one on one, almost scoring.

“It’s a penalty that is difficult to accept and to lose the game like this is a bit painful.”
