Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic seems to have reached a new height under Thomas Tuchel, as the Croatia international has formed a formidable partnership with Jorginho in the middle of the park.
Against Newcastle, Kovacic ran the show as he bossed the midfield and made Newcastle players look so ordinary with his mazy runs and his quality on the ball.
Chelsea defeated Newcastle 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Monday night, and although Kovacic didn’t score or get an assist, Newcastle fans admitted that he was the man of the match.
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has revealed his appreciation for Kovacic and hailed him as a reliable player.
“I love him, it’s very easy, I love him,” Tuchel told Chelsea TV.
“You can wake the guy up at 3am and he would be at Cobham [Chelsea’s training ground] at 3.15am and ready to give everything, ready to listen and ready to play with full energy.
“You need to calm the guy down in training, [make sure] that he’s not doing too much.
“He’s super reliable, totally open, yeah, it’s a pleasure to have him.”
