Olivier Giroud has been in good Champions League form for Chelsea this season, and was at it again as he scored a massive goal in the 1-0 victory over Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.

Giroud’s 68th minute strike was the only goal of the game, as he scored a stunning overhead kick to beat Jan Oblak.

The goal marked Giroud’s 6th Champions League goal this season, having also netted four in the 4-0 victory over Sevilla.

Giroud matched a Didier Drogba record, as he became the first Chelsea player to score 6 goals or more in a single Champions League campaign since Didier Drogba hit six in the 2011-12 campaign.

Responding to a post by UEFA Champions League, Drogba retweeted with the caption “Oliiiiiiiiiiiiii” and 5 blue love emoji.

Indeed, Chelsea have lacked a power striker since the era of Didier Drogba, as the Blues are still searching to replace the iconic striker.

However, it’s great to see Giroud reach such heights, and he could still add to his tally before the season ends.
