Before the game against Burnley, Marcos Alonso’s last post on his Instagram page had the caption ‘shooting practice’, and it’s no surprise that he blasted a rocket into the Burnley goalpost at the Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
With the game nearing its end, it seemed Chelsea would settle for a 1-0 win, but the 30-year-old Spaniard showed great ball control before hammering a rocket beyond Nick Pope.
The Spaniard took to social media to celebrate his goal, with a caption: “This is the way! Well done boys! Onto the next one!”
Alonso was one of the players reported to have fallen out with former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard.
Alonso’s last Chelsea appearance was four months ago, in the 3-3 draw against West Brom on September 26.
The Spaniard is known to be active on social media, but he has barely posted things in recent month, since news broke out of a fallout with the ex Chelsea boss. For a fact, his recent post was just his second of the year.
With Thomas Tuchel playing a three at the back system, we just might see the famous shooting boots of Marcos Alonso return once again. And let’s not forget his dangerous free-kicks as well.
