Chelsea have been known to boss possession and dominate play against opposition, under new boss Thomas Tuchel. However, that wasn’t the case in the game against Barnsley.
The Oakwell pitch was indeed horrible, and ensured that Chelsea dropped their tiki taka for an old fashioned English FA Cup encounter, and the feeling after the game was that it was a lucky and difficult win.
Speaking to the media at the end of the game, Abraham admitted that it was a typical Championship encounter to him.
“Coming here is never easy,” said Abraham. “I’ve experienced that myself from my time in the Championship.
“Credit to Barnsley, they made it difficult but we knew the chances would come for us eventually. I just had to make sure I was in the right place at the right time and thankfully I was.”
Speaking after the game, a relieved Thomas Tuchel lamented the poor state of the pitch and admitted that it made it difficult for his team to play.
