Tammy Abraham scored the only goal of the game to ensure a 1-0 victory for Chelsea against Barnsley. It was a very difficult game at the Oakwell Stadium, and Tammy’s goal ensured that the Tykes didn’t repeat a famous giantkilling story.
The goal marked Tammy Abraham’s 12th of the campaign, as he currently tops the scoring chart for the club – a feat he also achieved last season.
Tammy Abraham has had little playing time under Thomas Tuchel, with Timo Werner more favoured than the 23-year-old. The German gaffer rather went for the combination of Werner and Olivier Giroud in the 2-1 win against the Blades.
Following his performance against Barnsley, Tammy Abraham must have made an impression on the Chelsea manager.
Tuchel was pleased with his performance against Newcastle, and praised the striker.
“He scores decisive goals in cup games and this was a very decisive goal,” said the German.
“And the stop on the line was crucial for us. It is good for him – for strikers it is most important to score.”
Has Tammy Abraham done enough to impress Tuchel for a starting place against Newcastle next Monday?
