New Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel inherited a large squad, and it’s usually very difficult to keep a large squad happy.
The likes of Emerson Palmieri, Kurt Zouma, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Billy Gilmour are yet to make an appearance under Tuchel, while Tammy Abraham and Hakim Ziyech have also struggled for games. Andreas Christensen only recently got a chance due to the injury to Thiago Silva, and N’Golo Kante has only made a substitute appearance.
Tuchel has now revealed that he’d make many changes for the FA Cup fifth round tie against Barnsley, as he seeks to give playing opportunities to players who haven’t been playing much.
“There’s a high possibility that we will see a lot of changes,” Tuchel said at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday.
“This is the third away game in a row for us, so we don’t want to lose awareness or attention to detail and I think this is a good chance for some changes.”
Tuchel has confirmed that Hakim Ziyech and N’Golo Kante will both start against the Championship side.
The German boss will have an eye on this competition, as Chelsea will still love to at least win a trophy this term.
