Since Thomas Tuchel’s arrival at Chelsea, N’Golo Kante has only featured twice and has racked up just 31 minutes of football in cameo appearances against Tottenham and Sheffield United.
Kante was out with a hamstring injury when Tuchel arrived, and that has seen Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic form a solid partnership in midfield for the Blues.
However, Tuchel insists Kante remains a key part of his plans as Chelsea boss despite currently preferring the midfield pair of Jorginho and Kovacic.
“I think N’Golo fits into any manager’s plans on the planet,” Tuchel told reporters on Wednesday. “I was desperate to have him in my teams [in the past].
“I am so happy to have him back again. We put him on the pitch against Tottenham and he helped everybody on the pitch, which is what he does.
“To see the guy live, to see how he works, how humble he is, the quality he gives to the team. I am so humble to be his coach. He will start tomorrow.”
“[I am] not concerned about any more injuries because I feel the support and quality of the medical department. We can manage his minutes and workload and take care of him,” Tuchel added.
“I am not concerned about his quality. What I see on the pitches here at Cobham is, how can I put it, it’s everything I expected and I expected a lot because I am a huge fan of him.
“I can see the input he has on teams. He makes teams better. He has the mentality of a water carrier but on such a high level.”
