For all of Chelsea’s dominance in the first half against Tottenham, the Blues could only get a 1-0 victory, courtesy of a Jorginho penalty goal.
The second-half was a different contest as Spurs came out stronger. The home team pressed hard until the final whistle and almost got a late goal through Carlos Vinicius.
Speaking after the game, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was displeased that his team couldn’t take their chances and admitted that they have to keep working on this.
Tuchel said: “We need to create more clear chances, this is the objective and the job from me.
“One of the hardest things in football is to score and keep calm, but we have trust in our players and we will work to create more clear chances, and to be more effective, but in general everyone wants to score with every half-chance but it is not like this in the Premier League.”
“Every experience we make is a step forward if we are opening to learning from it,” the German boss also said.
“The whole first half we totally controlled the game, very high up the pitch. Maybe we lost confidence in the second half because we lost the ball possession. We never lost the belief or structure. If it is necessary to suffer, you have to suffer.
“A bit more killer instinct and more aggressive in the box, it would have been nice to decide and there were chances we lacked a bit of determination in the box.
“It was a big win in an away game and I am very happy.”
