Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has scored Chelsea’s last two penalties – against Tottenham Hotspur and Sheffield United – but Chelsea forward Timo Werner hopes to take on that role in the near future.
Werner has indicated that he wants to take over penalty duties from Jorginho in the future after being named man-of-the-match in Chelsea’s win against Sheffield United but admits he must score from open play first.
Werner said: “In the future maybe I can take penalty but in this moment, I need to score some normal goals before taking a penalty.”
Werner provided the assist for both Chelsea goals and believes he will start scoring soon.
He added: “I am happy when we win and with two assists but as a striker you want to score, it has been a long time and I have not had this long without in my career. The goals will come.”
