Manchester United legend Paul Scholes recently referred to Chelsea’s attack as toothless, and you won’t blame the man, as Chelsea have laboured for goals under new boss Thomas Tuchel.
Tuchel seems to have got his midfield and defence sorted out, but the final third is where the problem lies.
Chelsea’s attack seems stiff, and Tuchel’s side find it difficult to create chances and break opposition defence.
Meanwhile, in his recent analysis of Chelsea, former Blue Joe Cole hailed the team’s improvement in midfield and defence, but admitted that the attack is yet to be sorted. According to Joe Cole, it could even take up to months for Tuchel to figure out his attack.
“Tactically I thought they were good, in the middle third and defensively they were good,” Joe Cole told BT Sport during his post-match analysis against Southampton.
“But that final third, that final ball eluded them today.
“They changed things around a few times. He [Tuchel] has got the players there at Chelsea. I still think it is a case of rebuilding the confidence of some of them.
“Ziyech when he came on, Werner is still a work in progress, there are a lot of players still developing.
“They will get the numbers, but it might take a few months, weeks, whatever to get them up to speed where they start finding the final ball and start banging them in.”
