Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour was set to leave on loan to gain more first-team experience when Frank Lampard was at the helm, despite him being held in high regard, according to Daily Express.
Premier League side Southampton were reportedly keen on signing Gilmour on loan.
Daily Express claim Thomas Tuchel made the decision to block Gilmour’s loan move to Southampton after watching him perform in training.
Gilmour has made just two Premier League appearances for the Blues this season but he has impressed whenever he played.
Lampard reportedly believed a loan move would aid Gilmour’s development but Tuchel now wants the 19 year old midfielder to stay back at Chelsea.
