Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, right-back Reece James and striker Olivier Giroud have gotten award nomination in the 2021 London awards.
Mount who’s having a spectacular season gets nominated again in the Young Player of the Year category alongside Reece James.
Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy also got a nomination for London’s best goalkeeper, while Olivier Giroud was nominated in the Goal of the Season category for his stunning overhead kick against Atletico Madrid.
In the women’s team, Chelsea’s Niamh Charles has been shortlisted for the first-ever Women’s Young Player of the Year award.
In the women’s category, Fran Kirby and Pernille Harder also make the shortlist, and will be up against Arsenal trio Vivianne Miedema, Jennifer Beattie and Leah Williamson.
Fran Kirby was in spectacular form in our recent Continental League Cup triumph, as she played a part in all six goals in the 6-0 bashing of Bristol City in the final.
Chelsea women boss Emma Hayes who missed out to Brentford’s Thomas Frank last year was nominated again this year, and will be up against the Dane once again, as well as David Moyes, Scott Parker and Roy Hodgson.
The shortlist of nominees was agreed upon by an independent panel of judges. The 2021 awards ceremony will take place virtually on 27 April.
