Thomas Tuchel’s side must face the ‘best striker in the world’, if they plan to go past the Champions League round of 16.
Atletico Madrid icon Milinko Pantic has named Luis Suarez as the best striker in the world by some distance, and is surprised that Barcelona let go of the forward.
Asked by Goal to describe the Uruguayan in his own words, Pantic replied: “The best striker in the world, by far.
“When Atleti signed him I called Miguel Angel Gil and told him ‘you’ve signed the best and he’s going to give you a lot of goals’.
“It’s a great success. I still don’t understand why Barca got rid of him. He’s a cobra inside the box – you could give him two balls and he’d score three goals!”
Chelsea play Atletico in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge on March 17, and the Blues will have to be at their best again, after the 1-0 victory away from home.
Chelsea’s defence shut up Suarez last time out, and Tuchel will be aiming for yet another disciplined performance.
