Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has slowly but steadily won over his critics and doubters. With win after win, and clean sheets after clean sheets, even the biggest of Frank Lampard’s fans are now paying attention to what the new boss is building at Stamford Bridge.
A number of players have improved under Thomas Tuchel, as the German gaffer has brought back Marcos Alonso to form, with marked improvements in Callum Hudson-Odoi, Jorginho, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner’s performance.
Chelsea legend Pat Nevin believes Hakim Ziyech could be next on his ‘project’, as the Moroccan has so far struggled to impress for Chelsea.
Nevin wrote in his column for the club’s official website: “It almost feels like the manager is going through the squad one by one and working on them as ‘projects.’
“So he has already ticked off Alonso, Christensen, Callum Hudson-Odoi and possibly now Havertz, while Timo Werner has clearly improved too, so who is next on the list?
“I suspect it will be Hakim Ziyech, who has struggled with injuries and hence has had limited game time, which has in turn affected his match fitness.
“Watching Tuchel so far, I suspect he will not be satisfied until Hakim is also back to his best. ‘That will mean another option and another thing to worry about for every other opponent Chelsea have between now and the end of the season, and beyond.”
