Chelsea vs Manchester United’s game at Stamford Bridge may not have seen the best of individual players, as the two teams locked shop in a goalless draw.
However, one star on display was Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, who returned to the starting lineup for that game. The 29-year-old played a key role to ensure that Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes was kept silent at the Bridge.
Kante started in the centre of the park alongside Mateo Kovacic, and Chelsea hero Pat Nevin was pleased with his display.
“We also had the machine [against Man United] that is N’Golo Kante nipping at the heels of anyone in red who had more than one touch on the ball. He was back to his breaking-up best again and it made it impossible for United to get a foothold in the game, or even just a foot on the ball with their heads up,” he told the club’s official website.
Kante is now set to face Liverpool on Thursday, and Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel will be expecting a repeat of the same performance.
Meanwhile, Kante is aiming for a victory against the defending champions.
“It is an important game for us, we are very close in the league,” the Frenchman told Sky Sports.
“We go there for a win. We know that it is not going to be easy but we go with hope, and I’m sure that we can get a good result from Anfield.”
